There’s something heartwarming about a handwritten card or note that spells genuine appreciation. It expresses how you went “an extra mile” to show how you feel or care. In a world that now overflows with emails, digital files, text messages, and cellphone calls, handwritten notes are sometimes brushed aside. But nothing can compare to receiving a hand-written card, note, or letter, whether it was sent via “snail mail,” or attached to a thoughtful token or gift.
There is an undeniable elegance on how deliberate, emotional, respectful, and gracious a sender is when he has taken time to personally write a message on a card. Lucky for us, there is a proud wife and mom who has used her enterprising and creative skills to come up with a unique paper product for those of us who embrace this art of handwritten messages. 32-year old Macy Mumar makes hand-made and embossed note-cards.
These are perfect quality-paper products that can be used for absolutely any occasion, and are great to be given as gifts too. And with the holiday season coming up, you can choose to give the gift of personalized cards like these that are not only classy but extremely useful. And if you’re the type who’s likely to just send a text message or leave a message on a friend or relative’s chat box, you’ll be able to be drawn back to the art of the handwritten word with these beautiful little pieces of paper. All these are lovingly made by Macy’s gifted hands.

Were you also entrepreneurial, even as a child? Yes, as early as grade school I was already selling stickers and stationery to classmates.
Why did you choose to get into making notecards? What inspired you to come up with such a business? While I was visiting relatives in Australia (1998), my tita would bring me to the craft trade shows there (my family loves to do arts and crafts). She taught me how to emboss cards. I bought all my tools and stencils there. Those are tools I still use to this day. When I got back from that trip, I immediately had a light box made. The business came naturally bec I was already selling stuff in school buy and sell. So I tried out a few cards and my friends bought them. My friends cant believe I’m still making them upto now. Sabi ko, sosyal and improved version na sha now hehe.
Do you plan to expand your business and create more products like personalized stationery? Maybe eventually have my own little store in a mall. But right now, my time goes to my family. Maybe when the boys are a bit bigger and in school na. SInce my product is handmade, it takes a lot of time.
Did you always know you’d get into business? I knew I could always make money out of the stuff I could make
How do you balance being a wife and a mom and creating these one-of-a-kind notecards? As a wife and mom, you should always know your priorities first (God, husband, children, everything else…). Once those are set, its easy to find time to do thing you like/love. Making my notecards is therapy for me. Working with hands de-stresses me.
What makes your notecards different from the usual printed ones available in stores? Everything is hand made. I get my paper blank. I make the pattern, cut it, fold it, and emboss it one by one by hand. SO every card and envelope is made with love and care :)
In what ways are you a proud wife and mom? I love being with my husband and children! Its just a joy seeing them happy. And super kilig and fulfilling when they always want to be with you too.
Any advice to wives and moms who wish to pursue home-based businesses? Know your priorities first and do/find something you love so you enjoy it.

In 2008, someone wrote in a daily finance blog about how “handwritten letters are among the Top 25 Things Vanishing From America.” (Link to the article:http://www.dailyfinance.com/2008/07/18/top-25-things-vanishing-from-america-9-hand-written-letters/ ) I refuse to accept this, since I do know of so many people who still love receiving notes and letters written by hand, and thankfully also, do know of so many who love writing letters and notes. I believe that this art will never die, since writing thoughts and messages by hand is a personal reflection from someone expressly focused on you. Revive your love for letter-writing, or even better, relive the experience of giving joy by writing to dear friends and loved-ones. If you’re blessed, they’ll write you back in the same old-fashioned, familiar, and endearing way. Macy Mumar’s notecards are great gifts and beautiful tools to bringing back that handwritten intimacy and keeping it aflame. Enjoy her special note-cards and the time mulling over what you’ll write on them for the ones you hold most dear.
