How To Teach Your Toddler To Spell…Using Stickers!

Tried an interesting & fun approach to teaching my 3-year old daughter to spell her name, as well as simple words, like “Mama,” “Daddy,” Love,” “Cat,” and “Dog.”  I was able to purchase a Melissa & Doug Sticker Book, and each page was filled with hundreds of colorful letter stickers.  Since I’ve been vigilant in putting name plates on my kid’s books, school bags, and personal belongings, she has been aware of the spelling of her name, and I was excited to see if she could spell it out on her own.

Using a plain white sheet of paper and a few sheets of stickers, I instructed Drian to spell her name, as well as a few simple words.  It was effective, and I saw the big smile on her face when I praised her for her efforts.  It’s a refreshing way of letting your child put together letters, and a great way to decorate scrapbooks and her personal belongings.
