How To Go From Dwelling On The Past To Forgiveness And Victory

Sometimes, remembering the past can send pricks and pains to the heart.

…And then you suddenly remember how you’ve never gotten it so good until now.

And realize that the past was meant to teach you a lot of things…first and foremost, how to grow up…how, because of all those tears, heartbreaks, false starts and sad memories, you’ve emerged to become the person you are today. Be thankful and feel even blessed that you have the battle scars of love and pain to show.

Remember that God wants only the best for you. Embrace the journey He’s placed you on, and let Him lead.  A life worth living is a life lived without regret, and is a life of forgiveness.

It may take some time. Humble yourself. Apologize. But do learn to also forgive others.  And forgive yourself.  And let go. Let Him be your all.  And most importantly, Surrender.

Let the Lord’s leading be the balm to your wounds.  He will fight your fights for you. He will shed light on the dark.  He will make a way out of the thorns.  He will give you your fairytale come true, never mind that there were times when you thought you already had all you thought could ever want, when you thought you could do it all alone, or you were holding on to so many things, only to find yourself empty.

And when the past comes knocking and tries to plant seeds of condemnation and more pain into your heart, ask for His strength to overcome getting sucked in.  He will overcome.  He already has overcome the world. There isn’t anything He wouldn’t do for you.

Let Jesus be your now and forever.  Let Him do all He wants with you.  Let Him comfort you and love you.  Let Him teach you how to truly love.  Let Him mold you and use you. Let Him prepare your heart for the best only He can offer.

And when you do, those little pricks and pains will fade to nothingness, and you’ll be able to honestly say that, even with the wounds and scars life has led you to experience, you have truly emerged victorious.

I was nearly overwhelmed by so many memories the other day, too many that caused me years of anguish and pain.  It truly takes mighty faith to withstand the testings of the mind, the deceitful tugs on the heart.  I pray that you will be surrounded by His favor and that you will take heed when the Lord calls you and whispers something in your heart.  Listen. And pray for He always listens.

He does work for the good of those who love Him.  And He always will.
