I remember attending a kiddie party of one of my friend’s daughters. Everything seemed to be going well until one of the kiddie guests at the party appeared, wearing the very same outfit as that of the celebrant. While it wasn’t really a big deal to some, I personally got a bit uncomfortable since obviously, the birthday girl was supposed to be the “star” of the party. It was of good fortune that her mom was able to bring an extra outfit for her that set her apart from the rest, and that she was able to change. Everyone didn’t have a tough time distinguishing who was supposed to blow out the birthday candle, and as kiddie parties go, everyone went home happy and loaded with loot bags and wearing cheery smiles.
But that incident stayed in my mind. So when it was my turn to look around for a place where I could choose and purchase unique and well-made clothes for my daughter Drian’s 3rd birthday, I decided to do some research, and discovered RAJITO. I wanted something one-of-a-kind yet a party dress that my child could run around in, feel completely at ease in, yet make her feel like a princess. Looks like I was headed in the right direction.
Rajito happens to be designer Rajo Laurel’s fashion line for children. Click here to read more about the brand: http://store.rajolaurel.com/#/Rajito/Brand_Profile
Rajo Laurel has been a highly celebrated and respected fashion designer in the Philippine for over 10 years now, and his clothes have always appealed to the fashion-conscious and “dressed to the nines” set.
I was truly intrigued about how his dresses for little girls and toddlers looked, and was excited to pick out something for my child. We no longer had enough time to have something customized but when I learned that Rajo’s sister Venisse said in a website interview that Rajito had feminine, luxurious but completely age-appropriate AND comfortable dresses for special occasions, I KNEW I had to check it out.
The result?
We were able to pick out two lovely dresses for Drian’s 3rd birthday from the House of Laurel.
It was a blessing that we were able to chance upon two pretty dresses that had the same color scheme (both had peach and mint green as predominant colors), and since I wanted not one but two outfits so Drian could change just in case she got all sweaty and sticky in one, it was perfect.
I have to say, Drian looked spectacular in the dresses (she wore the first one for most of the party, then changed into the more casual party dress when she was about to blow out the candles to her cake.)

I actually wanted a bit of Parisian fashion so instead of the usual “formal-looking” sandals or Mary-Janes that little girls wear with their party frocks, I opted to let Drian don her favorite pink ballet flats to match her little party dress. It rocked!
Ever since my child’s 3rd birthday party, I’ve become an instant fan of Rajito, and I look forward to going back to House of Laurel to pick out more lovely and delicate and sumptuous dresses to add to my daughter’s wardrobe.
And who knows, maybe when she’s older, I’d also happily watch and accompany her shopping, as it would be her turn to pick out the kind of dresses she’d want for her parties. No harm in starting them young, and giving her a taste of quality, well-made and tasteful clothes perfect for her age.
Rajito is available at the House of Laurel, located at 6013 Villena cor.Manalac Sts. Poblacion, Makati.
