For Tired Parents: Another One (by Anonymous)

Chanced upon another beautiful poem written by an anonymous writer, it moved and spoke to me, about how fast the years go by…Just something to ponder, especially when you feel a little irked or frustrated or exhausted from parenting duties.

“For life is short, the years rush past.
A little boy grows up so fast.
No longer is he at your side,
His precious secrets to confide.
The picture books are put away.
There are no games to play.
No goodnight kiss, no prayers to hear
That all belongs to yesteryear.
My hands once busy now lie still.
The days are long and hard to fill.
I wish I might go back and do
The little things you asked me to.”
(Anonymous)

There are just days when a part of me feels like taking the “longest nap” ever, obviously contradictory, and that there is no such thing.

But on days like those, I am ever-grateful to my hubby Rodrin, for taking time to play with Drian while I catch up on at least 15-minutes of shut-eye, or when I can steal away for an hour or two for my footscrub-mani-pedi alone time, or even just a quick movie date with a dear girlfriend.

I also appreciate my own Mom, Daddy, and brothers, who never fail to show Drian how much she is loved. Same thanks goes out to my in-laws (Mommy and Dad), and Drian’s godparents who take time to visit and see her, and yes, to our all-around aide whose extra hand at the little chores will always be appreciated.

Moms need to take breaks too, and time away, if only for a short while, can really do wonders.

I wish I knew who wrote this line, and shake that person’s hand…An unknown writer spilled truth when he said, “If it was going to be easy to raise kids, it never would have started with something called labor.”

Hahaha!

God bless you, all moms and dads, and simply, those with parents’ hearts! Have a great day!
