About the Author

HI AND WELCOME TO MY SITE!

ProudToBeWifeAndMama, the site, was born out of encouraging words from family and friends, and after much prodding from people close to my heart, I’ve decided to give in and say my two cents’ worth on things that matter most to me…thoughts on family, raising kids, being a wife, loving God, great food places (rants AND raves included!), music, travel, and more!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

In a nutshell…

I’m Adjeng, and I have worn many hats — that of a call center agent, marketing associate, entertainment editor, and content writer,  before  finally succumbing  to my true calling—that of being a musician (singer and songwriter) and a writer of pretty much anything.

I’ve found that apart from my love of music and books and travel, children, and creativity, what I truly cherish and relish the most in my life is sharing about the joys of being God’s daughter, and being a wife to my husband Rodrin, and “Mama” to my little daughter Drian.

Taken when I was pregnant with my first baby, our daughter Drian

This site is my little wellspring of thoughts, my personal  takes on life as a wife, mother, and homemaker who humbly manages to squeeze in music and creativity into her every day.

Oh, and I just have to mention this, I have been a loyal Michael Jackson fan since I was five years old, and will always be an admirer of the amazing artistry and talent of the King of Pop.

Here you will find my recommendations on a variety of topics —food, places to go, books, and anything that has to do with living it up with family and loving life! This is my little contribution to the world…and the worldwide web. Heehee!

ENJOY AND GOD BLESS YOUR JOURNEY! :)

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

(A Closer and More In-Depth Look)

Adrienne Sarmiento-Buenaventura is a writer and a composer, with two professional albums as a singer/recording artist, who has, for a time,  dabbled in the field of television hosting.

As a writer, she has over a decade of experience, having contributed articles to magazines, newspapers and broadsheets, as well as articles for websites and online resources.  She maintains her website PROUD TO BE A WIFE AND MAMA (www.proudtobeawifeandmama.com) while pursuing freelance writing work and composing songs.  She does these while enjoying her roles of being a wife and a mother to the very hilt.

She gathered experience as a writer by taking on the position of Entertainment Editor of Yehey.com, an informative and premiere search engine and portal and medium for relevant news for Filipinos in the Philippines and around the globe.  Her position as a Content Writer for iayala’s Musicmanila and TalentworksAsia websites also gave her sufficient know-how about feature articles and writing about a variety of topics, from music, lifestyle, to creating profiles, press articles, and artist and event reviews.

Her first job as a call center agent inspired her to co-author a 75-page manual empowering call center agents, aptly entitled “Call Center Career,” which has been exclusively distributed and published by National Bookstore, copyright in 2005.  There is a short story in progress, that hopefully will turn into a published novel.  She hopes that her next foray into the publishing world will be a book of her own that is a story of inspiration, or a compilation of her poetic works.

She was also able to have a taste of writing and working for a magazine, having been an Editorial Assistant for a sports and health magazine called Total Woman, with Chinggay Andrada (writer, sportscaster, and host) as Editor-in-Chief.

She also has had experience in doing copywriting for DirectwithHotels, a direct-bookings online company utilizing search engine marketing services.  Her skills in creating quality copy and managing content for multiple websites simultaneously were honed in this company.

Adrienne was Lead Female Vocalist of “WINK”, a four-piece band signed under GMA Records, with their album “Wholehearted” released in SM Record Bars, Astroplus, and other major record stores nationwide.  It was in this album that she was able to express her songwriting abilities, sharing vocal and production chores with her bandmates Junjun Regalado, Adam Cesante, and JC Magsalin, who all happen to be session musicians of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra.  The album was released under ALT-G/GMA Records.

Adrienne also worked as a back-up vocalist for the kiddie singing /talent show “Little Big Star” in ABS-CBN Channel Two from September 2005 to April 2006.  This was the same show where talents like Sam Concepcion and current international singing sensation Charice Pempengco emerged.

Even while doing gigs as a vocalist, Adrienne managed to prioritize songwriting, and was chosen to be among the 12 finalists in the 1st Levi Music Festival, which was a tribute songwriting competition for the late National Artist Levi Celerio.  Her song entitled “OK” (co-written with Nino Regalado) was included in the commemorative album of the songwriting competition together with her fellow finalists.

Adrienne’s stint as lead female vocalist of the acoustic group ADJUNDIE (with Junjun Regalado on percussions and Ardie de Guzman on guitars) gave her wonderful experiences doing front-acts and back-to-back shows with other acoustic artists like Nyoy Volante and doing fundraising shows for noble causes.

Her being the original female vocalist of the band SIPOL gave her the opportunity to record an all-original album called “Unplug and Play,” released under GMA Records in 2004. She can never discount the great and humbling lessons she has learned, being part of this group that was composed of the best session musicians in the country.  It was her first taste of being a professional recording artist, shooting a music video, doing TV and radio guestings all over the country.

Adrienne was also able to try theater, having acted in SUBTEXT, a one-act play about texting that bagged the Carlos Palanca Award for Literature in 2002, penned by Njel de Mesa.  She also had her first taste of professional theater via her experience being part of the ensemble in “Dreamgirls” mounted by Atlantis Productions and directed by Bobby Garcia.

She was featured in MENZONE Magazine in “Women Who Rock” (January 2004) with singers Kitchie Nadal, Katwo Librando, Beng Calma, and Kate Torralba.

Adrienne was also a print-ad model for Kolours Hair Color and Citibank and ELBA, commercial model for “Fitrum” with JudyAnn Santos and “Rebisco” with Michael V. and Carnation Milk.

She was also a host for the shop guide television show on Channel 5 called “Venta 5″ that supported Philippine-made products and services of local merchants and inventors.  Her co-hosts in the show were veteran and award-winning film and television actress Miss Boots Anson-Roa, TV reporter Heidi Santos-Demaisip, beauty queen-turned-image consultant Karen Agustin-Ostrea, sportscaster and courtside anchor Patricia Bermudez-Hizon, morning news reporter and model Claudine Trillo, radio jock Raffy Ruiz, sports analyst and commentator Magoo Marjon and TV personality and commercial model Chal Lontoc-del Rosario.

In recent times, she has done copy work for some advertising agencies and continues to accept work-from-home writing jobs.  She also continues to write songs, and has been happy that she has been able to collaborate with excellent composers and musicians like multi-awarded composer and producer Soc Villanueva, as well as HongKong Disneyland’s Musical Director, Rony Fortich.  She is looking forward to writing songs for other artists as well.

Adrienne graduated with a degree in Communication Arts and Advertising from Miriam College.  Her thesis “Communication Patterns Between Overseas Filipina Workers and Their Families” is one of the few, if not the only, research papers in college that was considered an international thesis, with research conducted in the Filipino Overseas Workers Resource Center in Singapore, in 2000.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her family locally and abroad, blogs about travel, food, entertainment, leisure, and homeschooling, and reads about music and parenthood.  She also cooks and writes poetry.  She is compiling her original compositions and plans to record them in an album. She looks forward to finishing a children’s story she has already started.  A staunch advocate of children’s books, she continues to build her personal library of children’s book classics to share with her child. Once in a blue moon, she accepts singing engagements and gigs for special events.
